Driving time from Bovec: 1½ hours
If open, travel along the Vrsic Pass, a beautiful journey, with about 50 hair pin bends! Or travel on the car train between Bohinjska Bistrica and Most na Soci (50mins) If flying into Ljubljana you may like to stop off in Bled for a couple of nights to/from the airport. Here there is a beautiful lake with the island church. You can get a gondola to explore the little island church, wander around the lake, swim in it or take a pony trip around the lake. Visit the cliff top castle. Vintgar Gorge is worth a visit walking along the spectacular walkways within the gorge, passing white water rapids and crystal clear pools. There is a ski run in the winter or a dry toboggan run affording beautiful views across the lake, in the summer – terrifying but brilliant fun!

It is a “little Prague” or a “more intimate Budapest”. Visit Ljubljana Castle, the National Gallery, Museum of Modern Art and the markets, and enjoy a boat trip along the river. There is also an outdoor theatre.
